Domain Privacy & Transfer
Move your domain over. Keep your name out of WHOIS. Both, free.
Domains registered or transferred to 2MHost get WHOIS privacy at $0/year and a free one-year extension on the transfer. Most registrars bill $8 to $12 a year for the privacy alone.
What's included
Two free perks every other registrar charges for.
Free transfer with a free year on top, plus free WHOIS privacy on every domain we host. The same user area handles both, so there's one renewal date if you want one.
Up to $12/year saved on privacy alone
-
Free .com / .net / .org transfer
Initiate from your user area, paste the EPP code, done. We cover all transfer fees for the primary domain of the hosting account.
-
+1 year added, free
Every successful transfer extends your existing registration by a full year. As simple as that.
-
WHOIS privacy by default
Your real name, address, email, and phone are replaced with a privacy service in every public WHOIS field. Enabled at registration, kept on at every renewal.
-
Domain & hosting in one place
One user area, one invoice, one renewal date if you want it. No juggling between a separate registrar and a separate hosting account.
Before & after
What anyone with a WHOIS tool sees.
ICANN requires registrars to publish owner contact data. Privacy protection substitutes a proxy in every field that would otherwise be public.
Without privacy
Public WHOIS
Domain: yourcompany.com Registrant: Jane Doe Email: jane.doe@yourcompany.com Phone: +1.5550101234 Street: 742 Maple Street City: Springfield, IL 62704 Country: US
Anyone running whois yourcompany.com sees your home address, your real email, and your phone number. So do every scraper bot and cold-call list.
With 2MHost privacy
Public WHOIS
Domain: yourcompany.com Registrant: Privacy Service LLC Email: contact@privacy-svc.net Phone: REDACTED FOR PRIVACY Street: PO Box 13190 City: Tucson, AZ 85746 Country: US
Same domain, same registration, same ICANN compliance. Your real details stay on file with us; the public record shows a proxy.
Under the hood
Three steps. Five days. Done.
ICANN's domain transfer process is standardized across every registrar. You drive the first step; we drive the rest.
-
Unlock
Grab your EPP code from your current registrar
Log into your current registrar, unlock the domain, and copy the authorization code (sometimes called EPP, sometimes Auth-Info). Most panels surface it next to a "transfer out" button.
-
Initiate
Start the transfer in your 2MHost user area
Paste the EPP code, confirm the WHOIS contact, submit. ICANN emails the admin contact on the existing domain to verify the move. Click the link, you're set.
-
Settle
Wait about 5 days. We do the rest.
The transfer settles on the ICANN clock. When it lands, we add a free year to your existing registration and turn on WHOIS privacy. DNS keeps resolving the whole time as long as you don't change nameservers.
Free domain transfer eligibility
-
Free transfer covers .com, .net, .org
-
Domain at least 60 days old (ICANN rule)
-
Unlocked and active at the current registrar

FAQ
Common domain questions.
What people usually ask before moving a domain over or registering a new one with us.
What does "free transfer" actually include?
The ICANN transfer fee, the free one-year extension on your existing registration, and WHOIS privacy for as long as the domain is hosted with us.
Available only for the primary domain of the hosting account, .com, .net, or .org.
What if my domain isn't a .com, .net, or .org?
We can host any domain. For registration,
Other TLDs (.io, .co, .me, country-code TLDs, and so on)
can be registered or renewed through 2MHost at standard prices,
and you still get WHOIS privacy on top wherever the registry allows it. The free-transfer promotion is limited to .com, .net and .org gTLDs.
Will my site or email go offline during the transfer?
No. DNS doesn't change just because the registrar does. As long as your nameservers stay pointed where they currently point (or you update them ahead of the transfer), traffic and mail keep flowing for the entire 5-day window. If you're moving hosting and domain together, point the nameservers to ours before initiating the transfer.
Does WHOIS privacy work for every TLD?
Most. All the major gTLDs (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz) and most ccTLDs support it. A small number of registries don't (e.g., .us, .ca, .eu) because their regulations require real registrant data. We turn privacy on wherever it's permitted, automatically.
What does WHOIS privacy not do?
It hides your contact details from public lookups, not from law enforcement or the registry, who can still see the underlying registration on subpoena. And it doesn't filter unwanted email that arrives by other channels (forms, lists, leaked addresses). For inbox-level filtering, that's our spam filter, included on every plan.
Can I register a new domain through 2MHost without transferring?
Yes. New registrations sell at standard registrar pricing and come with WHOIS privacy included from day one. The free-transfer perk only kicks in when you bring an existing domain over.
Ready to consolidate?
Hosting from $3.25/month. Free transfer and privacy included.
Pricing-locked for life. 30-day money-back guarantee. Bring your existing domain in about 5 days, with a free year on the back.
